Gray wins two races as Lady Tigers compete in College Station
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Alexis Gray won two events Friday to lead the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University at the first day of Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational.
At the Gilliam Indoor Stadium, Gray won both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. The senior from Nassau, Bahamas, won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.12 seconds.
In the 60-meter dash, Gray won the final event with a time of 7.49 seconds. The time was only eight-hundredths of a second off her time in last year’s event, when she set the meet record in the 60-meter dash.
In the 400-meter run, TSU’s Nikole Haroon took third place with a time of 57.11 seconds. She finished second among four-year college competitors.
In the field events, Quintella Johnson’s fifth-place finish in the high jump highlighted TSU’s performances. Her highest jump cleared 1.67 meters.
After one day of competition, the Lady Tigers are in eighth place out of 17 teams.
