Tigers Fall In Emotional Contest At Southern
BATON ROUGE, La. – Texas Southern made a late push from an early first half deficit but came up short as Southern held on for a 66-57 win on Monday night.
TSU battled back from an early deficit as Zaire Hayes’ and-one tied it up at 13-all but SU regained a 16-13 lead after an offensive rebound led to a three-pointer. Over the next 7:55, 12 players would score between both teams but the difference came down to turnovers as TSU committed six during that span as SU closed out the half on a 20-11 run for a 38-26 halftime lead.
SU opened the second half on a 7-0 run to claim a 45-26 lead. Similar to the SWAC opener between both teams in January, Texas Southern would dig deep once again to overcome the early hole it fell in.
