Pree Wins Long Jump, Men’s Track & Field Has 6 Top-5 Finishes
Kenneth Pree won the long jump title as the TSU men’s track & field team had six top-five finishes at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational on Friday at the University of Houston.
Chaunzavia Lewis placed third in the 100 after a run of 10.64 while Jose Gonzalez finished sixth and ran a personal best time of 1:56.94 in the 800.
Malachi Byrd placed fifth (15.10) in the 110-meter hurdles while Anthony Mangram was fourth (57.69) in the 400-meter hurdles. Albert Norman placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after a personal best run of 9:55.92.
Turey Stoudemire jumped 6-6.75 for a fourth-place finish in the high jump and was joined by James Autrey III’s 10th-place jump of 5-8.75.
Pree won the long jump with a length of 23-5.25 followed by Donyae Castaneda’s seventh-place jump of 20-5.
Kellen Garion had a career day with a pair of personal-best throws and sixth-place finishes in the shot put (44-3.5) and hammer (119-2.)
TSU is back in action at the J Fred Duckett Twilight at Rice on April 22.
