Jells Named SWAC Newcomer of the Week

Texas Southern sophomore Atira Jells was named the SWAC’s Volleyball Newcomer of the Week for her play on the court last week in a pair of contests versus Bethune-Cookman. 

A middle blocker from New Orleans, La., Jells led the Tigers with 28 kills (3.11 k/s) in two games against the Wildcats. In a five-set thriller on Sept. 6, Jells tallied 18 kills versus BCU along with a pair of blocks and a service ace. 

Texas Southern is back in action tonight at McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
