Football Drops Home Opener To Jackson State

TSU couldn’t get things going on Saturday evening the way they would’ve hoped as Jackson State claimed a 43-14 win inside Shell Energy Stadium before 13,173 fans.
TSU had a promising first drive with a pair of big plays but had couldn’t keep the momentum as the drive ended with a punt. On JSU’s second play of the game, Irv Mulligan had a 32-yard run followed by a pair of runs by several JSU players to move into scoring position. TSU’s defense would buckle down and hold JSU to a field goal for a 3-0 margin.

Late in the first quarter, TSU’s Keelan Cox forced a big fumble and TSU’s Alex Bouldin recovered the ball at the JSU 49 but TSU couldn’t capitalize offensively as they were forced to punt. Jackson State closed out the first quarter and opened the second quarter with a 16-play, 69-yard drive which spanned eight minutes…
