6 Tigers Post Top-10 Marks At Houston Invitational

Jose Gonzalez ran a season-best time in the mile for a third-place finish while Turey Stoudemire placed fourth in the high jump as TSU had six top-10 finishes at the Houston Invitational on Friday.

Gonzalez, the reigning SWAC Track Athlete of the Week, ran a season-best mark of 4:17.20 to finish third overall as he currently stands seconds in the SWAC. Fellow runner Brandon Washington finished eighth in the 800 with a time of 1:56.63 followed by Ka’Bren Mitchell’s (10th) time of 1:56.85 which moved him to 10th in the SWAC. The mile relay “B” team of Mitchell, Michael Strange, Jr., Isiah Barnes and Washington finished seventh (3:23.52).

Stoudemire jumped 6-6.75 for a fourth-place finish in the high jump while Hezekiah Freeman posed a mark of 50-8 in the shot put to place seventh. Even though his mark was outside the top-10, Joshua Goslee made a huge jump as his mark of 14-9.5 moved him to the top of the SWAC.

TSU returns to action in two weeks on Feb. 10 at the Howie Ryan Invitational at Yeoman Fieldhouse in Houston.
