Women’s Golf Leads After Day 1 Of Gulf Shores Collegiate

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Texas Southern women’s golf team is in first place after day one of the Gulf Shores Collegiate Invitational hosted by the Black College Golf Coaches Association.

Senior Rev Alcantara is atop the leaderboard after firing a 2-over 74 in her opening round and by posting a 152 total at the end of day one.

“The team had spurts of good play throughout the day,” head golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. “They are gradually tapping into their potential.”

Following her 4-over 76 first round, teammate, Ashlie Hobbs is one stroke back in second place. Freshman Miness Siame is tied for third.

The Tigers tee up for their final round of the Gulf Shores Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club.
