Lorman, Mississippi—Texas Southern defeated Alcorn State Braves 5-1 on Wednesday.
Texas Southern got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bryce Hughes singled down the left field line, and Damian Garcia grounded out, each scoring one run. Texas Southern added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Elijah Rodriguez scored after tagging up, and Garcia singled, scoring two runs.
Calvin McClendon earned the win for Texas Southern. The left-handed pitcher gave up two hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking five.
