Late Touchdown Overshadows Tough Effort By TSU Football At Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas – FCS ranked No. 22 Lamar University scored a late touchdown with 1:05 left in the fourth quarter as TSU dropped a tough 20-17 decision at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday night.
Several new faces were in the starting lineup on TSU’s opening drive as Quintell Quinn and Jordon Davis set the tone with the rushing attack as TSU moved all the way to Lamar 1. However, the drive stalled as TSU settled for a 20-yard Gustavo Romero field goal for a 3-0 first quarter lead.

The TSU defense played lights out in the first half as they forced two punts, an interception and fumble. TSU would make it a two-possession game with 1:05 left in the second quarter as Chaunzavia Lewis took a handoff and scored from seven yards out for a 10-0 lead after Romero’s PAT.
