HOUSTON- After getting off to slow start the Texas Southern Tigers were able to regroup as they went on to defeat Prairie View A&M by a score of 74-61.
Zach Lofton entered the game off the bench and netted 21 points for the Tigers behind a 7-of-12 shooting night from the floor.
Marvin Jones racked up another double-double for the Maroon and Grey as he recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Kevin Scott chipped in 17 points and Trae Jefferson contributed 16 points as the Tigers captured their ninth Southwestern Athletic Conference win of the season.
For the game TSU shot 46 percent from the field while limiting the Panthers to shooting just 33 percent.
Texas Southern elevated their play on the defensive side of the ball in the second half as they forced PVAMU into committing 17 turnovers.
The Tigers resume SWAC play on the road next week at Grambling State.
