HOUSTON – The Texas Southern Lady Tigers needed less than an hour to sweep Arkansas–Pine Bluff in the regular season finale for both teams Tuesday.
Scores of the match were 25-14, 25-11, and 25-11.
Senior hitters Kali Fluke and Audriana Carson helped insure that fans would not have to wait long for the post-match ceremony honoring TSU's four players participating in their final home match. The duo knocked down 11 kills apiece; Carson added seven digs to her line, while Fluke hit .375 and tallied six digs.
The Lady Tigers reached the 20-win mark with the victory over the Golden Lions. TSU (20-10) finished the regular season with a 16-2 record in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
TSU will go into this weekend's SWAC Tournament in Jackson, Miss., as the No. 2-seed in the single-elimination bracket. The Lady Tigers will face host Jackson State, which finished with an overall record of 9-23. Match time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Williams Assembly Center.
