BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Gaudencio Lucca and Aaron Solis, both of Texas Southern have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball hitter and pitcher of the week for their performances over the past week of the regular season.
Hitter of the Week
Gaudencio Lucca
2B/1B • 6-0 • Sr. • Mountain View, Calif.
Gaudencio Lucca hit .611 and slugged 1.111 to lead the TSU bats during the Tigers' 3-2 week. A senior from Mountain View, Calif., Lucca went 11-for-18 with two home runs and eight RBIs during the week.
He went 9-for-12 during the team's weekend series with Arkansas–Pine Bluff, and hit for the cycle while going 5-for-5 in TSU's 9-2 win Sunday. He had three RBIs in Sunday's win, and went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in Friday's contest with the Lions. Lucca also tallied multiple hits in TSU's midweek 3-2 win at Houston Baptist. He went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including the game-winner.
For the week, he recorded an on-base percentage of .711, while walking five times and scoring five runs. On the field, Lucca handled all 37 fielding chances without committing an error.
Pitcher of the Week
Aaron Solis

Aaron Solis pitched a complete-game shutout Saturday to lead the Tigers to 10-0 win over Arkansas–Pine Bluff. While his teammates were getting hits early and often, Solis shut down the Golden Lions' attack, striking out six batters and scattering seven hits – all singles. Solis only walked two batters in the win, which required only seven innings of work when TSU went ahead by 10 runs in the seventh inning. The win improved Solis' team-leading record to 4-1.
Solis' award win was the second time this season he has been honored.
