MOBILE, Ala. - The Texas Southern University men's and women's golf teams began the spring season this past Thursday after a yearlong hiatus due to the NCAA and SWAC's cancellation of spring sports activities at the beginning of 2020.

Both teams are currently participating in the Mardi Gras Invitational in Mobile, Ala.

Rev Alcantara is leading for the Lady Tigers as she is in second place overall.

"As a team, the ladies pushed through tough conditions," Texas Southern head coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. "Rev definitely fought hard. I expect us to play closer to our potential on Saturday."

On the men's side, Devansh Chadha leads for the Tigers after he carded a six-over 77 and is tied for fifth individually. Fellow teammate, Grant Everson is one stroke back with his 78. The Texas Southern men's team is currently in third place.

"The men's team showed potential," Grandison said. "Saturday's round is going to be a team effort and I am looking forward to seeing how we respond to even more challenging weather conditions."

Texas Southern University concludes play at the Mardi Gras Invitational on Saturday at the Falls course of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
