Eight games inside the state of Texas, including six contests in the Houston area, highlights the Texas Southern University 2026 football schedule.
For the second straight year and only the third time since 2012, TSU will have six contests designated as the home team. Due to scheduling conflicts at Shell Energy Stadium for the 2026 season, the Tigers will have the opportunity to spread their brand across Houston over the course of the season. TSU also enters the season fresh off its first winning season since 2000 and returns many contributors who helped secure the historic mark last season under head coach Cris Dishman.

Due to recent changes by the NCAA, Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams are now allowed to begin their season on Week 0 without a waiver, which is the weekend before Labor Day. The Tigers immediately took advantage of the rule and will play their first Week 0 contest since 2017 on Aug. 29 as they'll host the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) North Carolina Central Eagles for the first time ever at the rebuilt W.W. Thorne Stadium (Aldine ISD) located on the north side of Houston live on HBCUGO at 6 p.m.

One week later, the Tigers are back in action for the 41st edition of the Labor Day Classic and its conference opener at SWAC rival Prairie View A&M on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. in Prairie View, Texas. TSU will step out of conference play on Saturday, Sept. 12 as they'll head west to face UTEP for the first time since 2007 in El Paso, Texas. After a bye weekend on Sept. 19, the Tigers remain on the road as they'll jump back into SWAC play on Sept. 26 for a match-up at Alcorn State in Lorman, Miss. starting at 3 p.m.

TSU opens the month of October on the road with its second Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent of the season in Florida Atlantic on Oct. 3 in Boca Raton, Fla.

After their trip to Florida, TSU's schedule becomes home heavy as five of its final six contests are in Houston. For the first time since 2018, TSU will welcome Mississippi Valley State back to Houston as they'll host the Delta Devils back at W.W. Thorne Stadium. Two weeks later on Oct. 24, the annual Homecoming Weekend football game will commence away from campus for the first time since 2018 as the Tigers will host Southern University for a highly anticipated contest inside Houston's Reliant Stadium. TSU will play its first contest at the stadium since 2014 while also hosting the Jaguars inside the stadium for the first time since 2007.

TSU returns to action a week later at W.W. Thorne Stadium for a contest against Grambling State on Saturday, Oct. 31. TSU kicks off the month of November versus Alabama State on Nov. 7 at W.W. Thorne Stadium before embarking on their road finale at Alabama A&M on Saturday, Nov. 7. TSU closes out the 2026 regular season in Houston on HBCUGO TV against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at W.W. Thorne Stadium.
