Women’s Golf Finish 3rd At PGA Works, Amezcua Wins Individual Title

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Texas Southern women’s golf team posted a team total of 939 (310 – 316 – 313) to finish third at the PGA Works Collegiate Championship on Wednesday.

Junior Thaiz Amezcua had a big day as she recorded her first individual win with the Tigers following her 10-over-par 223 (74 – 76 – 73). Amezcua’s even-par final round included two birdies, 12 pars, and four bogeys.

Freshman Carmen Pate finished tied for 11th after shooting a 233 (77 – 80 – 76) while Zufan Girard posted scores of 78, 81, and 84, respectively. Junior Shawnise Gregory finished with a 240 (81 – 79 – 88) while graduating senior Azul Amezcua shot a total of 251 (81 – 90 – 80).
