RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A late comeback effort fell short as TSU fell 72-58 to California Baptist on Thursday afternoon.
A 5-5 tie in the first quarter turned into a 14-5 deficit after a 9-0 CBU run. TSU’s Jaida Belton ended the run with a bucket and sparked a brief TSU run with four points of her own as TSU trailed 14-11. CBU would push its lead back to seven on two occasions to close out the quarter but three Tigers would score as they ended the half strong with a 7-2 surge to trail 24-22.
