For the second straight night, a fifth set was needed as TSU held on to defeat Alabama A&M 3-2 Monday inside the H&PE Arena.
A 6-3 run by AAMU in set one gave them a 16-13 lead which expanded to 20-16. With their backs against the wall, TSU fought back with a 7-1 surge which saw them move ahead 23-21. AAMU moved ahead 24-23 but Keldri Young’s kill tied it at 24-all and moved the set into sudden death. An ace by Kourtni Collier moved TSU ahead followed by Taryn Stafford’s kill for a 26-24 win.
