Tigers Lose Just Second Game Against Alcorn (8-6) Since 2015

The Texas Southern University baseball team committed seven errors, which proved costly in a 8-6 loss to Alcorn State on Friday afternoon inside Willie McGowan Stadium.

This would only be the second game out of the last 19 games that Texas Southern has lost against Alcorn State, as this record dates back to the 2015 season.

The Braves struck first with two runs on two hits at the bottom of the first to take the lead.

Jordan Vidato was hit by a pitch at the top of the third, then CJ Castillo singled to get on base. They both moved up a base after Jesse Herrera  was out at first. Tyler Williams doubled to right field for two RBIs, tying the game at two runs each. Williams was brought home on a wild pitch as TSU was up 3-2 at the top of the frame.

The Tigers picked up one run in the fourth after Victor Molina tripled and scored on Vidato’s single. Two Tiger errors at the bottom of the fourth contributed to the Braves three runs scored in the frame. Alcorn led 5-4 at the bottom of the fourth.

Down the stretch, the difference was a three run on four hit eighth inning (two errors) for the Braves as they won in walk off fashion.

Domenic Martinez started on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings, while striking out six and walking three. He was tagged for five runs. Molina went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI.
