Owens, Williams Earn Weekly SWAC Football Honors

Texas Southern had a pair of student-athletes earn SWAC Football Player of the Week honors after their performances at Bethune-Cookman last weekend.
 
Junior linebacker Jacob Williams was named the SWAC’s Defensive Player of the Week after racking up 13 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a 95-yard fumble return for a score. Saturday’s outing marked the third time he has recorded double-digit tackles this season as he tied his season high.
 
Owens was tabbed the SWAC’s Specialist of the Week after a solid performance as he returned four kicks for a total of 142 yards. Owens averaged 35.5 yards per kickoff return with a long of 40 yards.
 
Both players and the Tiger football are back in action on Saturday against Florida A&M inside Shell Energy Stadium at 7 p.m. Tickets are available via TSU Sports.com.
