Nicholas Earns All-SWAC 2nd Team Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – TSU men’s basketball graduate student Joirdon Karl Nicholas was named to the 2022-23 All-SWAC Second Team on the eve of the 2023 SWAC Tournament.
 
The Houston native had a solid final regular season at TSU as he leads the SWAC with nine double-doubles. Named the Preseason All-SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, Nicholas lived up to the hype as he was the SWAC’s leading rebounder (9.2) while ranking fifth in blocked shots (1.1). He scored a season-high of 28 points against Huston-Tillotson while also scoring 21 points with SWAC-high 18 rebounds against North Carolina A&T State. Nicholas had 10 games with double-digit rebounds, six games with two-plus blocks while also surpassing the 1,000-point career mark this season.
 
Nicholas and TSU starts their postseason journey Wednesday night against Alcorn State in the first round of the 2023 SWAC Tournament at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
