Baseball Wins Doubleheader In Contrasting Fashions
The TSU baseball team won a doubleheader in contrasting fashions on Friday as they defeated Randall University and Arlington Baptist.
A walk-off error led TSU past Randall University 2-1 on Friday in the opener.
With the game tied at 1-all in the bottom of the seventh, Jordan Vidato drew a leadoff walk as CJ Castillo recorded a sac bunt to move him over to second. A strikeout would follow for two outs but a fielding error on Daalen Adderley’s grounder allowed Vidato to score the winning run.
TSU’s Alexander Olivo opened the scoring in the second with a single on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Jeffry Mercado, who opened the inning with a double. The Tigers remained on top until the seventh as Randall scored on a two-out single to knot it at 1-all.
Abraham DeLeon had a season-high 10 strikeouts on the mound for TSU as Mateo Lamas picked up the win. Mercado and Olivo both had two hits each.
In game two, TSU wasted no time in setting the tone with a 13-3 win.
TSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead before breaking it open with an eight-run seventh.
