Women’s Basketball Falls At SFA Sunday Afternoon
Texas Southern University dropped a 100-63 decision at Stephen F. Austin University on Sunday afternoon.
SFA had five different players score double figures including Kurstyn Harden’s team-leading 20 points.
TSU (0-3) was held to just a 29.2 shooting percentage from the field for all four quarters going 19-for-65 while the Ladyjacks were 38-of-67 for 56.7 percent.
Andriana Avent drained a deep three-pointer just 10 seconds into the contest to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead, which would be the team’s largest lead of the night. A pair of layups by SFA’s Aiyana Johnson gave the Ladyjacks (2-1) a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish the rest of the game.
Avent’s 24 points were on 6-for-22 shooting from the field and 3-for-9 from long range to go along with an outstanding 9-for-11 from the charity stripe. Micah Gray chipped in 13 while Donterria Brown added 10 of her own.
