Pree, Williams Qualify For NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships

The Texas Southern men’s track duo of Chadrick Williams and Kenneth Pree have both qualified for the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships this week in College Station, Texas at Texas A&M.

Williams qualified in the triple jump as his mark of 50-10.75 feet set at the SWAC Outdoor Championships put him over the top. This marks the first-ever NCAA Regional appearance for the sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica.

Pree, a sophomore from Houston, will participate in the long jump on the regional level for the first time. Pree’s mark of 24-2.25 feet set at the J Fred Duckett Twilight Meet on April 24 held up as it also marked a personal best.

Pree is slated to jump at 3 p.m. on Wednesday while Pree will jump on Friday at 3:15 p.m.

At stake is a berth to the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon which runs June 9-12. To qualify, both athletes will need to finish in the top 12 of their respective events.
