Tigers Fall To HCU In Final Rice Invitational Match

The Texas Southern University volleyball team fell 3-0 to Houston Christian on Saturday afternoon to complete the Rice Invitational at the Tudor Fieldhouse.

Set Scores: 23-25, 20-25, 12-25

As close as set one was, the biggest difference was 10 Tiger errors to eight Husky errors for a two point difference. The Tigers scored its most kills in set two having 14 but the Huskies had two more kills along with two 4-0 runs to claim the set.

HCU raced out to a 12-8 start in the third set then used a 5-0 run capped by a service ace by Tatiana Evans to lead 17-8, a deficit TSU could not recover from.

Lauren Battle, Gracie Lee, and Kourtni Collier each had six kills. Ava Ray tallied 15 assists while Angelika Rusin picked up 14 digs.

Texas Southern will return home to the H&PE Arena to take on North Texas on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
