LORMAN, Miss. – Texas Southern split a softball doubleheader at Alcorn State on Saturday.
ALCORN STATE 1, TSU 0
Alcorn State scored in the final inning to claim a 1-0 defensive dual on Saturday.
With the game scoreless entering the sixth, TSU’s Marissa Martinez had a one-out single followed by Lanay Carr’s triple. However, Martinez was thrown out at home followed by a strikeout to end the inning.
TSU led the top of the seventh off with three consecutive walks to load the bases. ASU was forced to undergo a pitching change and got TSU to hit into two straight fielder’s choices at home plate followed by a lineout. ASU would hit a one-out triple on the seventh and won the game on a sac fly.
