PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The season came to a close for the Texas Southern soccer team as they fell 3-0 in the first quarterfinal match of the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference Soccer Championship Thursday afternoon against Alabama State.

The Hornets got off to a quick start with Grace Norbury scoring within the first five minutes of the game. McKenna Wiscombe scored the second goal in the 48th minute. TSU had an opportunity down 2-0 to cut its lead in half but missed a penalty kick as ASU would score its final goal in the 61st minute.

Camile Robinson posted the first shot attempt in the first half for TSU. The second half saw shot attempts by Mia Ontiveros, Ashley Arnes, Laura Chavez, and Hayden McMillan, respectively. There was no denying the team pushed through the entire match with equal efforts offensively as well as defensively. The Tigers saw a total of five goal attempts with one being on goal while having five saves. On the defensive side, Alexis Espino had four saves while Jaidyn Christophe had a single save.
