The TSU volleyball team is back in action Sunday and Monday at its first SWAC Cluster held at Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala.
TSU battles host Alabama State at 9 a.m. on Sunday followed by a 3 p.m. match against Jackson State at 3 p.m. On Monday, TSU closes out cluster play against Bethune-Cookman at 9 a.m.
TSU will have its hands full as ASU is 15-2 over TSU since 2011 while Jackson State has won seven of the past eight over TSU since 2018. Both ASU and JSU are in the top half of the SWAC standings as they enter with 3-1 and 2-1 records, respectively.
The Tigers defeated Bethune-Cookman last year which ended a three-game slide over the Wildcats. B-CU enters the cluster with an 0-3 mark.
TSU splits its past road trip at UAPB and Grambling State last week as freshman Kourtni Collier had a solid effort with a total of 13 blocks over two games. She had a high of 8 blocks at UAPB and five at Grambling State. She scored 17 total points with a high of 10 at UAPB.
