TSUSports.com: TSU mourns the loss of football standout Rice

HOUSTON- Former Texas Southern defensive tackle Andy Rice passed away Sunday (Feb. 11) at the age of 77.
The TSU standout played for nine years in the National Football League. He began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1966. Rice started for Kansas City in Super Bowl 1.

He also played professionally with the Houston Oilers while also playing two years each with the Cincinnati Bengals, San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears.

Before retiring, Rice coached the defense on the Aldine High School 1990 State and National championship team.

Teaming with Ralph Cooper on KCOH AM 1430 for years Rice appeared on Thursday's to predict high school football games.

A wake in his memory will be held on Friday, February 16 from 6.00 pm until 9.00 pm at Willing Worker's Baptist Church located at 6900 Weaver Road.
