TSUSports.com: TSU finishes fourth at SWAC West Roundup

WATAUGA – The Texas Southern Lady Tigers landed this past weekend in fourth place where they finished with a record of 7-5. The Lady Tigers averaged 176.6 pins during the Round Up.

Day one of the tournament, the Lady Tigers were in second place winning three games and losing two. Texas Southern beat Jackson State, Grambling State, and Southern University, while suffering losses to Prairie View A&M and Alabama State University.

Day two, Texas Southern kept up their momentum going 3-1, and had a bye game. The Lady Tigers beat out Alabama A&M, Jackson State and Grambling yet again. The Lady Tigers bowled a nail biter against Prairie View A&M, and loss by only one pin.

On the final day, the Lady Tigers took fourth place after finishing 1-2 for the day. Continuing to beat Alabama A&M and losing to Alabama State and Southern University, resulted in the Lady Tigers ending with a 7-5 record for the weekend.

Texas Southern had two Lady Tigers bowlers positioned in the top 10, Shania Carr who averaged 192.08 pins and Samantha Kriner with an average of 202.93 pins. Top freshman performer Leanna Martinez averaged 169.71, ranking sixth out of all freshman.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action February 2 through 4, when they travel to Arlington, Texas for the Prairie View A&M Invitational.
