HOUSTON- Grambling State was able to score 40 unanswered points to beat Texas Southern 47-28 on Saturday night in what was TSU's season finale.
GSU trailed 28-7 with 10:21 left in the first half after Texas Southern scored three second-quarter touchdowns in a span of under three minutes.
It was all Grambling State from that point as GSU slowly begin to nip away at Texas Southern's 21-point lead. Grambling State went into the half up by a score of 33-28 and would subsequently add two more scores to its advantage in the second half of play.
For the game TSU's Averion Hurts threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns for Texas Southern.
Jarius Moore was a key defensive play maker for TSU, contributing nine tackles, one sack, forcing a fumble which he recovered and took 26 yards to the end zone while also picking off a pass.
