The Texas Southern softball team opens up postseason play on Tuesday afternoon against Alcorn State in its SWAC Tournament opener.
No. 1 TSU drew No. 4 Alcorn State for the fourth time this season at 3 p.m. inside the Gulfport Sportsplex in Gulfport, Miss. TSU won the series against ASU earlier this season as this marks the first meeting between both teams in the postseason since 2016.
Also joining TSU in the upper half of the bracket is SWAC East No. 2 Alabama State and SWAC West No. 3 Grambling State. TSU played Alabama State to open the 2021 season and recently faced Grambling State on Saturday in a makeup game.
The tournament starts Tuesday and could end Friday if team that emerges from the winner’s bracket drops wins four straight. If the winner’s bracket team loses on Friday in the championship round, a winner take-all contest will occur on Saturday at 11 a.m. between the same teams.
