After a quick spring campaign, the Texas Southern soccer team is back on the field preparing for the start of the 2021 fall season.
Head coach Lindsay Vera has been pleased with the progress of her squad after five days as she has to get them into shape both mentally and physically due to the team’s season opener on Thursday, Aug. 19 against ULM in Houston.
“Seeing the new players build chemistry and interacting with the returning players makes me happy,” said Vera. “The intensity has been good and the energy level has been great. We’re excited to be back.”
Even though TSU had less than four months from its last game, Vera is ready to start a new chapter but also said it helps with retaining things they worked on in the spring.
“It was nice we had a quick turnaround because the motivation is there and it’s not so far out of our heads what we’re doing this for,” she said. “It’s nice not to wait long enough to get a second chance.”
