HOUSTON – Consecutive extra-base hits in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday lifted the visiting Houston Baptist Huskies to a 4-3 win over the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern.

A triple by Cecilia Bauer followed by a double from Demi Janak reclaimed the lead for the Huskies after TSU tied the game with three runs in bottom of the sixth. TSU fell to 12-10 with the loss, while HBU improved to 8-16.

Stephanie Buenrostro picked up the win in relief for HBU. Tyra Williams (2-3) absorbed the loss for the Lady Tigers, pitching two complete innings of relief.

Dominique Tello's two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth highlighted TSU's late rally. Tello's drive to left-center allowed Jocilynn Ellis and Kelsey Riley to score and cut HBU's lead to 3-2. Tello came home with the tying run when Buenrostro – who entered the game in the sixth for starting pitcher Shae Bibby – uncorked a wild pitch.

The Lady Tigers did not register their first hit until the fifth inning, when Marissa Padron led off the frame with a solid single to left field. Bibby had retired 15 batters in row after giving up a leadoff walk in the first inning.

Meanwhile, Lauren Rodriguez also gave a solid performance in the circle for the Lady Tigers, striking out five batters over five innings while giving up only one earned run.

The Lady Tigers are idle this weekend will have a full week to prepare for their next games. TSU hosts the Jaguars over the University of Houston at Victoria in a non-conference doubleheader next Tuesday; first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
