HOUSTON – The Tigers of Texas Southern University evened their three-game series with Arkansas–Pine Bluff by defeating the Golden Lions 10-0 in seven innings Saturday.
At MacGregor Park, TSU's Aaron Solis pitched a complete-game shutout while teammate Jose Camacho went 5-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Tigers (8-15), who improved to 5-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference divisional play.
Camacho knocked RBIs in three consecutive at-bats during the second, fourth, and fifth innings. His two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning highlighted a five-run TSU frame that saw the Tigers take a 7-0 lead.
In the middle innings, Camacho knocked RBI doubles to stretch the TSU lead to 9-0. Keanu Van Kuren's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh that scored Kamren Dukes gave the Tigers the victory in seven innings.
Solis struck out six batters while scattering seven hits against the Lions. Pine Bluff (7-11, 4-4 SWAC) has been outscored 18-0 since the top of the eighth in Friday's contest, when the Lions took a 12-2 lead; Arkansas–Pine Bluff ended up winning Friday's contest by a score of 12-10.
Van Kuren, who came into the game as a pinch-hitter, knocked two base hits for the Tigers. Dukes stole three bases in the game.
The Tigers and Golden Lions conclude their series Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at MacGregor Park.
