
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Texas Southern closed out the first semester of bowling action at the Vernell Stallings Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T State on Nov. 15-17.
TSU opened the first day of action with an 0-5 mark as they fell to Coppin State by six pins, Howard, Alabama-Birmingham, Prairie View A&M and Lincoln Memorial. In traditional play on day two, TSU opened with losses to Tusculum, Mount St. Mary's, North Carolina A&T State but rebounded with a 950-880 win over perennial MEAC power and No. 15 ranked Delaware State.
In Sunday's bracket play, TSU avenged Friday's loss with a win over Coppin State by a 4-3 margin. They closed out the invitational with a 4-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial to finish 11th overall.
Samantha Kriner led TSU with a 202 average as she bowled a high of 242 followed by Jessyca Driver's 183.6 average.
TSU is back in action Jan. 10-12, 2020 at the Stormin' Blue & Gold Vegas Classic hosted by Mount Saint Mary's in Las Vegas, Nev.
