History
TSU fell in another heartbreaker as Florida A&M scored a run in extra innings to claim an 8-7 win at MacGregor Park on Saturday.
FAMU jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first on a two-out RBI single. They would add another two-out RBI single to center in the third en route to a 3-0 margin. TSU had its chances but left the second and third innings with the bases loaded. The Rattlers upped the lead to 4-0 in the fifth on a sac fly but the Tigers finally responded offensively in the bottom frame.

Bryce Hughes opened the fifth with a walk and an error on Jaden Jones' at-bat put runners on first and second. FAMU went into its bullpen as a result and Damien Garcia drew a walk to load the bases followed by Jaden Flores' one-out single for a 4-1 score. Jason Lazo drew a bases loaded walk to cut the lead in half (4-2) and Tyler Legendre came off the bench as responded as a pinch hitter with a single to left to knot the contest at 4-all.

With the TSU crowd back into the game, the defenses would take center stage in the sixth but TSU began to run into trouble as starter Justin Mayes was relieved after allowing a leadoff walk and first pitch ball to its next batter. Reliever Sidney Moore came in and allowed a walk but followed with a strikeout. However, another walk loaded the bases which was followed by a two-RBI single and a 6-4 deficit. Another walk loaded the bases and Leeroy Tavarez was summoned from the bullpen to keep the game close. Tavarez issued a quick strikeout but FAMU followed with an infield single before another Tavarez strikeout ended the inning down 7-4.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and a runner on first, TSU would rally as Lazo singled followed by Alex Diaz's two-RBI double to left. Jonathan Trejo kept the rally going with an RBI single for a 7-7 tie. Both teams ended the eighth with a double play and Tavarez was rolling with two strikeouts to open the ninth. However, he also issued two walks which forced another change as Isaac Garcia was was called into action. Garcia quickly responded with a two-out groundout to himself to remain tied.

Jesse Herrera III was hit by a pitch to open the ninth for TSU and the FAMU bullpen was summoned. Jaden Flores' sac bunt attempt was popped up but Lazo hit a one-out single to move pinch runner Evan Joubert to third for the winning run. The hit-and-run didn't go off as planned as FAMU recorded the second out at home followed by a flyout to right to force extra innings.

The Rattlers opened the 10th with a single and stole second. Garcia forced a strikeout and TSU intentionally walked the next batter to force a double play. Garcia came through with a strikeout but on a double steal attempt the ball was thrown into the outfield at second as FAMU scored for an 8-7 lead. Jaden Jones would double in the ninth with two outs and FAMU opted to walk Damien Garcia. Evan Joubert drew a walk to load the bases but Jaden Flores' game-winning attempt was caught with an athletic play in left to seal the game.

Jones finished 3-for-6 with a run while Kwelton Phillips, Bryce Hughes and Lazo had multiple hits. Legendre and Diaz led the team with two RBI apiece. Tavarez struck out four to lead the way on the mound.

The series and TSU's home schedule concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. as the team will honor 10 seniors for Senior Day festivities.
