ALEXANDRIA, La. – All three members of the Texas Southern University women’s golf team earned Second-Team All-SWAC honors following the final round of the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championship at Oakwing Golf Club on Tuesday.
Freshman Lyla Vaughn moved up four spots after carding a 5-over 77 to finish tied for sixth. Senior Rev Alcantara was tied in sixth place after her one-shot improvement in the final round. A’marie Smith finished tied for ninth.
“The team had spurts of good play today,” stated TSU head golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison. “We had to start our rebuild from somewhere. We should continue to improve as a program.”
The Texas Southern University golf teams return to action as they compete in the PGA Works Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. May 5-8.
