Baez Nets First Goal In Home Opener Against Sam Houston

The Texas Southern University soccer team kicked off the 2024 season falling just one goal short, 2-1 against Sam Houston State on Friday afternoon inside Alexander Durley Stadium.

Liliane Clase Baez recorded the first Tiger goal of the season in the 25th minute after a penalty kick to put TSU on the board. Baez recorded two shots with one being on goal, while her teammate Isabella Dillow took four shots with one being on goal.

Sam Houston State responded with an unassisted goal by Indigo Sims in the 76th minute to tie the game. The Bearkats put the game away as Gabrielle Gipson found the back of the net in the dwindling seconds.

The Tigers are back in action on Thursday against UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
