Texas Southern closed out its regular season in style following a three-game sweep over Grambling State Saturday at the Houston Astros Urban Youth Academy.
TSU 2, GRAMBLING STATE 1
Texas Southern scored twice in the first and held off a late Grambling State charge to claim game one 2-1.
Kylie Wilson led the bottom of the first off with a walk and stole two bases to move into scoring position. Senior Destiny Menchaca hit a sac fly for the game’s first one. Fellow senior Lanay Carr singled, stole second and scored what would be TSU’s final run on a RBI single from senior Karisma Garcia.
Wilson kept the Grambling State offense at bay but ran into trouble in the seventh as Kamryn Broussard drew a one-out walk…
