Volleyball Falls To Texas State In Rice Invitational

The Texas Southern University volleyball team opened the Rice Invitational with a 3-1 loss against Texas State University inside Tudor Fieldhouse on Friday evening.
Set Scores: 15-25, 19-25, 25-18, 13-25
In the first set, Texas State jumped out to a 13-5 start, hindering the Tigers early on. An eight-point deficit would be the closest the Tigers would get as they fell, 25-15.
Both teams battled back and forth earlier on in the second set as TXST led, 11-10. Texas State pulled away with a 9-3 run, leading 20-13 after a kill by MJ McCurdy. The Tigers scored two more points before Texas State hit match point. TSU tried to battle back with four consecutive points before Texas State called the game.
