Women’s Basketball Falls To DePaul In Season Opener
The Tigers took the lead to start the game before the Blue Demons went on a 12-0 run within the first three minutes of the first quarter. The Blue Demons went on to continue that hot streak shooting 80 percent from the field finishing the quarter with a 35-18 lead. TSU would be held just to nine points in the second quarter while the Blue Demons went on to score 25 in the quarter after going 10-of-18 from field goal range and 50 percent from the three-point line to lead 60-27 at the half.
In the second half, TSU kept fighting and began to put more points on the board scoring 44 points. Though the scoring improved it wouldn’t be enough to beat the Blue Demons as they defeated the Tigers 114-71.
The Tigers’ leading scorer of the 2020-21 season also led the season opener in points as Ataiya Bridges led TSU in scoring with 27 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Alisa Knight followed with 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals followed by 11 points and seven rebounds from Jada Perry. Ashley Austin dished out six assists along with four rebounds from Niya Mitchell.
TSU is back on the court Monday evening at the University of Arizona for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff in Tucson, Ariz.
