4×100 Meter Relay Wins Gold, Women’s Track & Field Has 19, Top-10 Marks At Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational
The TSU women’s track & field team had 19-top 10 marks at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Houston on Saturday.

Saturday’s meet featured some of the top teams in the south in attendance such as LSU, Texas, and Houston in addition to a solid contingent of teams from the region.

Freshman Erica Grant placed fourth overall in the 100-meter dash. Shelby Brooks finished sixth in the 400 while Tardranique London placed 10th. Alyvia Brown placed ninth in the 800 and set a career-best time in the 1,500-meter run as she placed 10th overall. Jessica Williams finished second in the 3,000 while Lyriq Ray finished third in the 400-meter hurdles.

The 4×100-meter relay of Avia Trammell, Diamond Barrett, Tyeler Moore and Erica Grant won the event.

In the field events, London placed seventh in the high jump while MyKaylyn Davis finished eighth with a career-best mark. Ryann Richards moved to second in the SWAC in the pole vault after placing eighth while Destinee Payne and Davis finished 8-10 in the long jump.

Alexis Wilson and Kennedy Brown tied for second in the triple jump followed by Payne’s fifth-place finish as Wilson and Brown both cracked the SWAC’s top-10. Kayla Robert-Day and Ronelle Plaza placed 8-9 in the shot put while Angela Sanchez and Morgan Haywood recorded personal bests in the hammer as they finished 7-9.

The team is back in action on April 20 at the annual J Fred Duckett Twilight at Rice University.
